Ridemass @ Nationals

After our best regular season ever, our regional qualifiers headed out to Copper Mountain, CO to test there skills against competitors from across the country at the worlds largest snowboarding event, the USASA Nationals.

The team sported their Celtics themed jerseys at the parade after the practice day, and had a chance to gather at the opening ceremonies with all of their fellow competitiors (and parents) before the start of competitions the next day. Weather was great, and the general consensus was that this was going to be the best nationals yet!

All of our athletes had a great time most importantly, and rode very well, most having spent the majority of the season training on hills a tenth the size of Copper, only slightly above sea level. We proved once again that the size of the mountain does not matter, as our athletes put together some of their best runs of the season, in what was surely the most successful nationals to date for our young series.

We had three athletes climb aboard the podium over the course of the week. First was Alex Chapin, taking a silver in the Slalom, and a Gold in the Giant Slalom which would put him in place to win the Gold in the Overall Alpine category. Tim St. Denis, also climbed the stage to receive his Bronze medal in the GS. Tim also finished 5th in the Slalom, putting him in 4th for the Alpine Overall, and 5th in the Triple Overall which encompasses all 5 events. Nick Pintauro also took the Silver in the Boardercross, which was one of the most technical courses we had seen in a while. Great job guys!

Other notible finishes were Matt Lukens finishing 4th in both Slalom and GS, Josh Smith taking 7th in the GS and 6th in the Slalom, and Mikey Lacroix taking sixth in the Boardercross.

Although he did not win any mdeals, our very own "Green Habu" a.k.a. Noah Cermak was elected to the USASA Executive Board as the new Series Director Representative. Congrats Noah!

All of our athletes should be very proud of their efforts, and we look forward to seeing you all next season!
